Event report
Video evening > April 2000
On Thursday 20th April 2000 most of the unit converged on the chairman's house for a evening of videos. This was planned for earlier in the programme but had to be postponed.
Most arrived at about 7:30pm and we settled in to watch Scream and one of the Friends videos. After that (and a few beverages along the way) we played a few rounds of cards and Jenga.
Most of us then set off to the near-by recreation ground to play football, bearing in mind that it was 1:30am it is a bit hard to see the ball (especially an old, dirty ball) in the middle of the night on a dark park. We spent half an hour chasing the ball, only to find that it was only the wind moving a patch of grass. We never did find the ball!!!
We played on the swings and slides for a while before deciding to go off for a walk in the pitched-black woods to scare the girls. It was easy, all we had to do was stand with our back to the path and then wisper "Boo" as they walked past and they would let out a shriek and turn round and start cursing us for being "out of order"! We then lead them along to an un-made-up road with a few street lams and, feeling that they had sufficiently lost their sense of direction, proceded to stalk them at a distance and throw the occational stick so that it cracked near to them. That, apparently was even more "out of order" that just hiding and jumping out at them and they hit us all the way back.
By this time it was about 2:30am so we all felt that this was as good a time as any to have a game of hide-and-seek. We turned off all the lights in the house and played for about an hour until 3:30am. Chris continually found brilliant hiding places which Sam, the person whose house it was, often couldn't find for quite a while.
By 4am most of us were a little tired so we decided to go to bed. Each person had brought a sleeping bag and so we all just lay down on the sitting room floor and were soon asleep. By 7am we were all up again; some had to go to work and others had lifts with the ones that were going to work.
