Surrey County Explorer Night Hike > March 2008
On a chilly Saturday evening, the mighty Summit Network turned up in style to man a base at the annual county night hike. Armed with a tent inside a party tent, heated by two portable gas heaters and a pot of chilli to keep us warm through the night, we camped out in Crooksbury Hill car park, near Farnham, waiting for 45 groups of explorer scouts to visit our base and complete our task of getting through our giant spider web, honing their team work and communication skills. Even at silly o'clock everyone seemed to be in high spirits as they passed through our camp. One of the first groups to complete our task was the K2 Explorers who had great fun getting in a tangle!
Thanks to vast quantities of coffee, chocolate, energy drinks and of course chilli, we made it through the night. The all clear to pack up came at 6:30am followed by a round of bacon butties, and then everyone left for home to go to bed.
