Event report
District Camp > May 2002
We were all out there by 7pm and got ourselves organised to run a couple of wide games before camp fire. Then we did another one after camp fire, which did not work quite so well.
We also did a camp fire 'stunt' that was just plain stupid. We had our BBQ at about 10pm after all the scouts had gone off to bed and then washed the 'charcoal' down with a few 'wet ones'!!
Tim 'Rambo' Dungey kept us all amused and entertained with his stories of Weetabix, Weetabix and more Weetabix from 'Bare Necessities'! I left them all too it at about 2pm and the others packed it in about 3pm.
Up again at 8am and all the Ventures were in uniform for flag break and I got awarded my Wood Badge at the same time. Amanda Coburn, as ADV Scouts, commented on how smart the Ventures looked and how the Scouts cocky/lippy behaviour was out of order when we had given up our time to organise things.
We then joined in with Tug-of-War games between the various groups, we didn't do very well but I think we were all still asleep from the night before!
A couple of the friends who were invited along for the weekend have now expressed an interest in joining, so overall a good weekend, fun had by all, good PR with the district and hopefully some more members.
